Rogart Paralympic silver medallist in line for major Scottish award

ROGART canoeist Hope Gordon has been nominated for the female para-athlete of the year award at the Scottish Sports Awards,

She won a silver medal in the VL3 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and also finished fifth in the KL3 final.

She has been nominated alongside Samantha Kinghorn who won gold in the 100 metres at the Paralympics and Faye Rogers who won gold in the 100 metres butterfly also at the Paralympics.

The awards ceremony will be taking place at the Glasgow Science Centre and IMAX on Wednesday December 4.

Hope was at secondary school when she was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome in her leg, which resulted in her having to have her leg amputated.

Gordon recently toured schools in Sutherland telling people her inspirational story about she became a Paralympic Games silver medallist.

Gordon has also competed in Nordic skiing at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.

Last year, she won a gold medal at the at the Para-Canoe World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.
