North of Scotland Kart Club prepares to host new race season in Golspie
North of Scotland Kart Club opens its competitive racing calendar this weekend with round one of the club championship at the Littleferry circuit near Golspie.
Practice runs are scheduled for Saturday from 10am until 5pm, allowing crews to blow away the winter cobwebs and fine-tune their race set-up for Sunday’s competition which will start at 9.30am.
All classes of kart are catered for, and following on from a successful pre-season open day the club will welcome some new drivers within the Bambino class (6-8 years), the ideal class for budding young racers to get started, and the growing Rotax Micromax (8-11) section where race craft can be developed further.
This weekend’s competition will also be treated as a test round for some crews prior to the arrival of the Association of Scottish Kart Clubs’ Super Series round one on April 26/27. Many of the club’s members compete in this four-round championship held across the Scottish tracks.
Caithness members have not been dormant over the winter period, with Ian Campbell (12) from Watten (Rotax Intermax) starting his season with a win at Rowrah in Cumbria and 2 P2s in the first and second rounds of the West of Scotland championship.
Dunbeath’s Jack Elder (9) took P2 at Crail in Fife in the Rotax Micromax class to kick off his campaign in a close battle with Louis Pyper from Inverness.

NSKC is also represented on a national level with four drivers – Ian Campbell, Lewis Stewart (Conon Bridge), Jude Fraser (Inverness) and Billy Falconer (Inverness) – competing in the Ultimate Kart Championship this year.
Tore-based Neil MacLennan will also be representing NSKC in the Super 4 championship KZ class as a driver and with his race team following a successful campaign last year to be crowned 2024 Super 4 KZ champion.
