GARY Pullen says it is a dream come true to call himself a Highland League title winner with Brora Rangers after only joining the club four months ago.

The Golspie plumber signed for Brora Rangers in December from Wick Academy as he looked to achieve his ambition of winning medals and trophies in the Highland League.

He was part of the squad which sealed the club’s fifth Highland League title after thrashing Rothes 7-2 at Dudgeon Park on Saturday.

He says he was ecstatic to win his first medal with the club and wants to be part of Brora’s drive to achieve more success in the future.

He said: “This is why I came here, I wanted to win trophies and win the league which is the biggest competition for us.

“At the start of the season you go out to win the league and for me to be part of it within the first few months of being at the club is something else.

“It can’t be the end, there has to be more. It has to be the start of something.”

Pullen first caught people’s attention when playing for Golspie Sutherland in the North Caledonian League when he helped them to win the league in the 2020-21 season.

He was also named North Caledonian League Young Player of the Year in 2023 which then saw him move to Wick Academy the following season.

Pullen hopes Brora Rangers’ title win is not just something which will benefit the club, but also inspire footballers in Sutherland too.

He said: “Coming from Golspie I am only six miles away from Brora, so it is pretty close to home for me.

“You always want to watch the best team that is local to you. I supported Golspie Sutherland, but they and Brora play in two different leagues and I would come here to watch Brora and watch the big games which took place here too.

“Winning the league is good for football in Sutherland. We are the best team in the north and are based in a small area. Something like this is good for the community.”

Pullen is cup tied for Brora Rangers’ Highland League Cup final clash with Fraserburgh on Saturday.

But he hopes he can play a part in the League Two play-off semi finals against Lowland League champions East Kilbride a week later.

He said: “We are playing a team we don’t know too much about in East Kilbride, but we will do our research and be ready.

“It could be two games in the play-offs, it could be four, but we need to beat East Kilbride first and then we move on to the next challenge.”
