Royal Dornoch Golf club will close for Queen's funeral on Monday
Royal Dornoch Golf Club have announced it will be closed on Monday to mark the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The club's Council of Management made the decision to close on the day of the funeral to allow members and staff to pay their own respects to the Queen.
Flags at the club have been flying at half mast and general manager Neil Hampton felt it was an appropriate decision.
“As a Royal Golf Club, this is a very sad time for us all and I’m sure our members at home and abroad, along with our staff, will want to take a moment or two on the day of the funeral for their own reflections on the life of the Queen,”
Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Dornoch in 1964.
The golf club itself was granted Royal status by King Edward VII in 1906.

The Sandy Pipey Young Masters tournament scheduled for Monday at Royal Dornoch has been cancelled by the PGA. It has been reduced to a single round event on the Sunday.
Golf will continue as normal on the Sunday and resume on the Tuesday morning following the State Funeral.
