Former winners celebrate 100 years of Sutherland County Championship





The Sutherland County Golf Championship celebrated its centenary last weekend.

The first Championship was held at Golspie Golf Club in 1922 and to mark the occasion it was decided to hold the Centenary Championship at its original venue.

The day of championship golf, won by Christopher Mailley from Brora Golf Club who claimed the title for the eighth time.

The day’s action was then followed in the evening by a celebration dinner in the Golspie Clubhouse.

A distinguished company was greatly enhanced by the presence of a number of former champions, each of whom received a suitably inscribed memento presented to them by Elizabeth Munro, president of both Scottish Golf and Scottish Golf North.
