Dornoch cricketers prepare for competitive return to North development league two years after revival of club
Dornoch Cricket Club, who reformed following a near 30 year abeyance two years ago, will compete in the North of Scotland Cricket Association’s (NOSCA) Development League this coming season.
The Sutherland town’s senior cricket club reformed two seasons ago and began by playing friendly matches as well as partnering with Nairn Cricket Club in a bid to bolster the coastal team’s numbers.

Competitive return for Dornoch cricket club this Sunday after 27 year absence
Last season the club enjoyed a brief taste of organised cricket competition when they took part in the NOSCA Development Cup – a tournament mostly featuring second string combinations entered by full league-affiliated members of NOSCA.
It was during this competition that Dornoch recorded their first win since their return, beating Ross County’s second XI under the guidance of Australian skipper Christopher Schleter.
This year Dornoch will take the plunge and participate in the NOSCA Development League.
Second string or “reserve” teams from sides such as Huntly, Northern Counties and Buckie traditionally take part in the Development League, formerly known as the Reserve league.
The previous incarnation of Dornoch CC won the Reserve League in 1991.
Matt Millward, Dornoch CC’s joint chairman, said, “We are thrilled to announce that Dornoch Cricket Club will be competing in the NOSCA Development League for the 2025 season.
“This is a huge step forward for our club, and we’re excited to bring more competitive cricket to the community.
“We’re always on the lookout for new players, whether you’re an experienced cricketer or just looking to try something new. It’s a great way to stay active, meet new friends, and be part of a growing local sports club. Come along and get involved!
“Dornoch CC train at the Meadows in Dornoch on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm. Everyone welcome.”
