Defender says Brora Rangers proved they can handle big occasions after being crowned Highland League champions as they now look for treble and promotion
DEFENDER Michael Finnis says Brora Rangers relish playing in the big games which has led to their success this season.
The Cattachs secured the Highland League title yesterday after thrashing Rothes 7-2 to become champions on goal difference.
The club are on for a treble, having already won the North of Scotland Cup in October and now prepare for the Highland League Cup final against Fraserburgh in Inverness on Saturday.
With the club also being awarded an SFA Bronze Licence last month, they are eligible for the League Two play-offs with them facing Lowland League champions East Kilbride in the semi final next month.
Finnis, who arrived from Rothes at the start of the season, says players signed for Brora to play in the big occasions.
He is delighted with how successful they have been in this campaign.
He said: “It has been a great season, there was a lot of high moments and low moments, being top then not being top and then being top again and it was great to come out on the right end of it.
“That is why a lot of us have joined Brora Rangers to play these games. It is the big games you enjoy playing in.”
Finnis scored the final goal in the 7-2 win against Rothes yesterday. Despite the comfortable scoreline, Brora Rangers did have to come from behind to take the lead. Finnis was delighted how they cruised to victory.
He said: “I thought we started the game quite well but they got a break and Colin Williamson scored an own-goal. “But I thought that we responded well to that and the goal from Max Ewan was unreal, after that goal, it was only going to go one way.”
