It has been confirmed both Brora and Fraserburgh were officially awarded the bronze licences today that are required to be eligible for promotion to Scottish League Two if they win the Highland League.

Brora Rangers are currently top of the Highland League with three games remaining of the campaign. The Cattachs are currently top of the Highland League on 73 points and they are ahead of Brechin City on goal difference.

Brora Rangers continue their Highland League title charge at Dudgeon Park on Saturday when they are set to take on Banks O’Dee.

Under Scottish FA pyramid play-off rules, it is a prerequisite for participants to comply with SPFL Membership and hold a bronze level club licence award.

Last season’s Highland League champions Buckie Thistle were denied a chance at promotion after they only held a entry level licence.

The number of teams in the Highland League who hold bronze level licences in the Highland League are four which include Banks O’Dee and Brechin City along with Brora Rangers and Fraserburgh.

Only two Lowland League teams hold the bronze level licence who are current league leaders East Kilbride and Cumbernauld Colts.

If both Highland and Lowland League champions hold a bronze level licence, they will face each other in a League Two play-off semi final.

The winners will then face the team that finishes bottom of League Two for a place in the division next season.
