Brora Rangers face promotion heartache after vital vote results in play-offs being scrapped
HIGHLAND League champions Brora Rangers face being denied a chance of promotion to League Two after SPFL proposals to finish the season and scrap the play-offs were approved.
Dundee controversially voted yes this afternoon, after previously indicating they were voting no to the proposals after missing last Friday's deadline, to finish the season for the Championship, League One and League Two.
It was the vote which secured the support of eight clubs required in the Championship for the resolution to go through after the Premiership, League One and League Two already approved the measures.
It means Brechin City, who are bottom of League Two, will remain in the division next season, with Brora Rangers and Lowland League champions Kelty Hearts being denied a chance of promotion through the play-offs.
However, the Cattachs, who won their third Highland League title this season, may still be promoted through league reconstruction.
The SPFL board has committed to consult on possible league restructuring in time for next season around an expanded Premiership model.

They have appointed Hearts chairwoman Ann Budge and Hamilton Academical chairman Les Gray to jointly lead a reconstruction task force.
The vote means Dundee United have been crowned Championship winners and will be promoted to the Premiership with Partick Thistle relegated to League One.
Raith Rovers will be promoted to League One as champions with Stranraer relegated to League Two.
Cove Rangers have been crowned League Two champions and will be promoted to League One.
The Premiership will be attempted to be played to a finish, but if it can't, bottom of the table Hearts will be relegated if there is no league reconstruction.
