BRORA Rangers have boosted their squad for the forthcoming Highland League campaign after signing midfielder Craig Mackenzie from Forres Mechanics.

The 21-year-old has arrived at Dudgeon Park on a three-year-deal pending approval from the SFA.

The former Ross County youth player scored 10 goals for Forres Mechanics in last season’s Highland League campaign.

Manager Steven Mackay says he is delighted to secure Mackenzie’s signature for the forthcoming season.

Speaking on Brora Rangers’ social media, Mackay said: “I’ve admired Craig from afar for a number of seasons so I am really pleased to finally get him.

“He’s a midfielder that can create and score goals and has played a lot of games in the HL despite only being 21.

“I am looking forward to see him in a Brora shirt.

Mackenzie is the second player Brora Rangers have signed from Forres Mechanics this summer.

Ryan McRitchie will join up with the squad in October upon expiry of his contract with Forres.

The 25-year-old, who operates across the Backline, will join the Cattachs on a two-year deal.

Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Brora Rangers striker Shane Sutherland has also signed for Brora Rangers on a three-year deal.

Ex-Inverness Caledonian Thistle goalkeeper Cammy Mackay has also signed for Brora Rangers on a three-year-deal.

Centre back Michael Finnis has also joined Brora Rangers after his contract with Rothes expired.

Brora Rangers are set to play their final friendly of pre-season when they take on Midlands League outfit Lochee United on Saturday.

Lochee United finished third in the Midlands League last season and challenged for the title for the majority of the season until suffering a poor run of results at the end of last season’s campaign.

They are one of two teams in the Midlands League, along with Tayport, who are eligible for promotion to the Highland League, should they win their division.

Brora Rangers continued their pre-season preparations last weekend as they thrashed a Lewis and Harris Select 9-1 in Stornoway.

Lewis and Harris were severely weakened with Ness and Stornoway Athletic playing in the Highland Amateur Cup quarter finals last weekend.

The Cattachs ran riot and broke the deadlock after eight minutes when Jordan Macrae scored.

The hosts did equalised five minutes later when Angus Macdonald found the net.

But Brora went on to stamp their authority with Macrae getting his second of the game before going on to complete his hat-trick in the 27th minute.

Macrae then grabbed his fourth of the game eight minutes into the second half with Tony Dingwall scoring Brora’s sixth just before the hour mark.

Andy Macrae then found Brora Rangers’ seventh midway through the second half before Jordan Macrae getting his fifth with 12 minutes remaining.

Callum Duff then completed the rout to make it 9-1 with five minutes remaining.
