Golf - Victory for Brora Golf Club member at Portmahomack in North Winter Golf Alliance
David Joel claimed victory at the North Golf Winter Alliance fixture at Portmahomack on Sunday.
The Brora Golf Club member proved too good for the rest of the field as he claimed victory with a 68.
He was one shot ahead of Ross Naismith who finished in second place with a score of 69. Naismith was second thanks to a better inward half from Allan Cameron of Royal Dornoch who were in third place with 69.
In the category one competition, Billy Ferries finished on top with a score of net 69. He claimed victory thanks to a better inward half from Paul Mackay who also recorded 69. Frank Mackie from Tain was third with 70.
Ian Ross from Reay won the category two competition with a net 63 with Malcolm Clasper of Thurso second on 66 ahead of Roy Page of Wick in third due to a better inward half.
Caitlin Boa of Royal Dornoch won the ladies competition.
