Young Curators' car wash boosts Dornoch museum's extension fund
Industrious members of the Young Curators Club at Dornoch museum Historylinks have raised just over £404 by running a Saturday car wash.
The youngsters’ hard work means the museum is inching closer to the £30,000 fundraising target it has set itself to help towards the costs of a building extension.
Already some £13,000 has been raised through various events such as the car wash, with the Young Curators Club raising £1000 in total so far.
Museum curator Lynne Mahoney said the youngsters had worked tirelessly from 10am to 3pm to make Dornoch’s cars sparkle.
She said: “The day was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone for supporting the extension fund by bringing along their cars.”
The children took turns in the stocks and raised £15 having wet sponges thrown at them.
Ms Mahoney said: “We are just waiting to hear from one of our big funders, which is SSE.
“If we get the funding from SSE then we will be able to put in a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund - it is all match funding.”
Future fundraising events being planned include a quiz night and a variety performance.
