Wick firm SHORE sells millionth seaweed snack pack – and launches new flavour





A Wick business is celebrating selling its millionth packet of seaweed chips in just 12 months – by launching a new flavour.

Since last September, SHORE the Scottish seaweed company based in Caithness has seen its sales soar by 30 per cent this year.

Its bags of chips are sold in major supermarkets including Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, Co-op and Holland and Barrett, as well as at retailer Go Outdoors.

Now it is launching a new Salt and Balsamic flavour – a twist on the classic crisp flavour – and it will soon be featured in a limited-time promotion across all Scottish Aldi stores as well as being rolled out to hundreds of independent stores nationwide.

Keith Paterson, founder of SHORE, said: “We continually get requests for new flavours and with the phenomenal growth of the SHORE brand this year, now is the right time.

“The new Salt & Balsamic flavour will make our seaweed chips ever more accessible. A twist on a classic crisp flavour, it has had incredible feedback from all who have tried it during our development process.

“Since launching in 2020 SHORE has attracted a growing, loyal fan base, thanks to the combination of great foodie flavours and better-for-you credentials. We believe the new Salt & Balsamic flavour does a great job of ticking both these boxes”.

SHORE launched form its Wick base in 2020. The brand’s Peking Duck flavour was recently named a finalist for the Healthier Choice Product of the Year at Scotland Food and Drink’s Excellence Awards, while the Sweet Sriracha flavour has been nominated for Snacks & Accompaniment Product of the Year, with winners to be announced in October.
