Whist

Fundraising whist drive at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, on Friday 1pm-3pm. Raffle and admission £3pp. Tea and coffee by donation.

Film Night

Durness monthly movie night at Durness church of Scotland on Friday 7pm-9pm.

Bingo

Growing Group

Coffee Morning

1st Dornoch Girls Brigade coffee morning at the West Church Hall, Dornoch, on Saturday10am-12pm. Donations at the door. Raising funds for the Bear Necessities Charity.

Gaelic Singing

Community Cinema

Timespan Community Cinema returns at Timespan, Helmsdale, on Saturday 11am-1pm followed by an hour of conversation 2pm-3pm. The film to be screened is The Ant and the Grasshopper: from Malawi to the US to fight the climate crisis.

Film Festival

The In-Between Place Film Festival at Lairg Community Centre on Saturday. Refreshments 6.30pm, welcome and introduction 6.45pm, film screenings 7pm, Q&A with filmmakers 8.15pm. To book, call 01549 402050.

Quiz Night

Golspie firefighters quiz night at the Masonic Hall on Saturday 7.30pm. Teams of six; over 18s only; prizes and raffle. In aid of the senior citizens and children’s Christmas parties.

Exhibition

A new exhibition entitled Glisk by Bridge House Art students goes on show at An Talla Solais Gallery, Ullapool, on Sunday and runs until March 9. The gallery is open 10am-4pm and entry is free.

Gardening

Lydia McKay will talk about pruning roses at Edderton Village Hall on Monday 7.30pm. An Edderton and District Gardening Club event. All welcome; refreshments provided. 01862 811381.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5

Walk

Join the countryside ranger for a 5km walk at Faraid Head by Durness on Wednesday 10.30am-1pm. Starts at Balnakeil Beach. Over 18s only. Book on Eventbrite.

Storytelling and poetry

Join poet Cáit O’Neill McCullagh at Timespan, Helmsdale, on Wednesday 10.30am-12.30pm for an exploration of writing and sound recordings celebrating the special relationship between the boglands of Caithness and Sutherland and the birds that depend on it. £10 or pay what you can. Book on Eventbrite. A Lairg and District Learning Centre event.

Place Plan

Lairg Local Plan public consultation at the Kinvonie Suite at Lairg Community Centre on Wednesday 2pm-6pm.

Community Meal

Farr Eats community meal at Strathnaver Hall on Wednesday. The hall will be open from 10am-3pm serving tea and coffee, and meals will be served at 12.30pm. Free but donations welcome. To register your attendance, call 01641 521777.

Talk

Major General Patrick Marriott will give a talk on the Battle of Littleferry 1746 at The Welcome, Station Road, Golspie on Wednesday 7.30pm. A Golspie Heritage Society monthly talk. Donations towards refreshments appreciated.

THURSDAY, MARCH 6

Film

Screening of Oscar Wilde’s celebrated comedy The Importance of Being Earnest at the Macphail Centre, Ullapool, on Thursday from 7pm. Tickets £14/£3 at: tickets.highlifehighland.
