Speak Gaelic

Practise your Gaelic over a cuppa at Bettyhill Library on Friday 12pm-1pm.

Whist

Fundraising whist drive at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, on Friday 1pm-3pm. Raffle and admission £3pp. Tea and coffee by donation. All abilities welcome.

Valentine’s Disco

Valentine’s Disco by Dynamic Sounds Disco & Events in Bettyhill Village Hall on Friday 6pm-8pm. For all children, not just those living in Bettyhill. Aged 0-nursery free; P1-P7 £1; entry includes love hearts and glow sticks. Tuck shop. A Bettyhill Children’s Christmas Party Committee event.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15

Quiz Night

Family quiz night at Bettyhill Village Hall on Saturday. Licensed bar opens 6.45pm and quiz starts at 7.30pm. Teams of four; £10 a team. All ages welcome. Raffle donations appreciated. Proceeds to the hall refurbishment project.

Film Night

Films Gu Leòr will be showing the comedy classic A Fish Called Wanda at Skerray Village Hall tomorrow 6.30pm for 7pm. Entry £5/£4/£2.50; cash only. Teas, coffees and homebaking.

Musical Evening

Sutherland Accordion and Fiddle Club musical evening at Rogart Hall on Saturday 8pm. Guest artiste is the Wullie Scott Trio. Admission £5/£2 including tea. BYOB; dance to follow.

Climate Cafe

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18

Art Group

Dornoch Firth Art Group meets every Tuesday 10am-12pm. There is no tuition, everyone brings their own materials and works on their own projects, but advice is given if asked for. £3 per session. Email: boothroydjones@hotmail.com

Talk

Tracey Munro, Butterfly Conservation project officer for the East Coast will give a talk at the Duthac Centre minor hall in Tain on Tuesday from 7.30pm. A Tain and District Field Club event.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19

Engagement Events

The Scottish Human Rights Commission is holding community engagement events at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, on Wednesday 10am-12.30pm and at Lairg Community Centre 2pm-4.30pm; also at Lochinver Village Hall on Thursday 2pm-4.30pm.

The team will discuss the findings from a recent report on economic, social and cultural rights. Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance via Eventbrite

Community Meal

A community meal will be served by Farr Eats at Strath Halladale Hall on Wednesday. The hall will open from 10am-3pm serving tea and coffee, and meals will be served at 12.30pm. Free but donations welcome. Booking is not essential but to register your attendance, call 01641 521777.

Community Cafe

Skerray Community Cafe every Wednesday 11am-3pm. Teas, coffees, cakes and savouries. Free Wi-Fi for working. Toys and books for the children. Everyone welcome.

Coffee and a Blether

The Coffee and a Blether team will host their monthly community cafe in Rogart Hall on Thursday 10.30am-noon.

Baby Jive

Baby Jive at Scourie Church of Scotland every Thursday at 10.30pm. A high energy fun-filled music programme developed by Songs of Hope for babies and pre-schoolers. Free entry.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi at Lairg Community Centre on Thursdays 2pm-2.30pm. Go along for a taster session followed by a cuppa and a natter. Contact: Diana Naman on 01549 402818.

Talk

Author Ian Leith will give a talk ‘Home and Away: Caithness People in Patagonia’ at Brora Community Centre lounge on Thursday 7pm. A Clyne Heritage Society event. The talks are open to all; admission and refreshments free; donations to the raffle welcome.
