PICTURES: Wellness day at Melvich beach goes down a treat
Portskerra Activ’ Club’s first ever Melvich Beach Day, held last Saturday in association with Think Health Think Nature, was a roaring success.
Activities on offer for adults and children ranged from a sea dip and surfing to paddleboarding, beach games and walks.
There to organise some of the games was youth development officer and active school coordinator Rhoda Kennedy and young leaders from Farr High School.
North Coast Watersports ran the children's surfing and paddleboarding sessions.
Refreshments in the form of scones, cake and fruit were provided by Cat Mackay.
Activ’ Club representative Sarah Kerr said: “It was a fantastic day and so nice to see so many people from the local communities out and being active. They all really seemed to enjoy it.
“Many of the families spent the whole day on the beach and seem keen for a similar event to be held annually.
“It was only thanks to funding from Think Health Think Nature for the event, and from SSE Strathy North Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to start up Portskerra Activ’ Club, that we have been able to do this.
“We are really grateful to the community for supporting what we are doing.”
