Weather closes in on day four of Cape Wrath Ultra
At 35km, day four of the 2024 Cape Wrath Ultra didn’t present the same time pressures as day three, but was characterised by steep climbs, imposing mountain ridges which rise steeply out of the glens, and pathless terrain which required a keen eye on navigation.
Temperatures were cooler than earlier in the race and wetter weather arrived later in the day.
In the women’s race, Elsa Morgan extended her lead over Bridget Glaister to 13 minutes, and US runner Erin Smith is still in third place.
In the men’s race, Lewis Taylor is now over an hour ahead of Swiss runner Ludwig Antilli. The UK’s Danny Smith has moved up into the third place after working his way through the field.
Of 172 starters, only 84 remain in the full race
After four days, the race standings are:
Men
Lewis Taylor - 24:59:47
Ludwig Antilli - 26:08:13
Danny Smith - 26:59:19
Women
Elsa Morgan - 29:52:16
