WATCH: Britain’s Got Talent star turn RuMac leaves Highland Heroes crowd Thunderstruck
AN Ullapool entertainer who took Britain’s Got Talent by storm with his quirky accordion-led twist on a disco classic won another standing ovation at our own Highland Heroes event.
As previously reported, RuMac - also known as Ruairidh Maclean - won over the BGT crowd and judges with a unique take on the the Baccara floor-filler, Yes Sir, I Can Boogie.
Around 400 people gathered to hail unsung heroes from across the Highlands at the event, which was staged at the Drumossie Hotel on Friday.

Ru Mac, who even managed to win over notoriously sniffy star-maker Simon Cowell on the talent show, had the heroes audience eating out of his hand.
And on putting it to a straw poll vote of what he should perform, the audience initially plumped for his rousing cover version of the AC/DC classic, Thunderstruck.
But there was no way he was getting to leave the stage without performing the same that brought him to the attention of millions of TV viewers.
He said: “Seeing as we’re Inverness we’ll sing it in our native tongue, yeah?”
He proceeded to rework the song in full-on ‘Right enuff’ fashion with a strong Inverness twang, much to the delight of the home crowd, many on their feet and dancing within seconds.
The event ended with a celebratory party atmosphere with The Jersey Notes, a tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Event host Nicky Marr started the evening by introducing 17-year-old singing sensation Michael Lewis.
