Concerns grew for the welfare of 33-year-old Rasa Kilikeviciute while she was hiking the Cape Wrath Trail from Durness on the north coast of Sutherland to Fort William.

Relatives alerted police saying that her lack of contact since Monday this week was out-of-character.

But Police Scotland tonight confirmed Rasa had been located, unharmed, in the west Highland wilds.

The 200 miles trail, passing through Rhiconich, Kinlochewe, Ullapool, Dundonnell, Strathcarron, Inverie and Morar, is considered to be one of the most challenging long distance walks in the UK.

It also has many mobile phone blackspots.

Rasa had last been seen by a member of the public the previous Monday, January 20, walking south on the road from Kinlochbervie to Rhiconich.

By Monday this week, when she last spoke to her family, she had reached the Kinlochewe area.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Rasa Kilikeviciute, 33, who was reported missing from Fort William has been traced safe and well.

“Thank you to everyone who shared our earlier appeal.”
