UPDATE: Lorry and car involved in A9 crash – road closed





A section of the A9 next to the Causewaymire Wind Farm is closed off after a serious accident involving a car and a lorry this afternoon.

Police are currently investigating the scene and have blocked off a 200m stretch of the road close to the wind farm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash which happened around 3pm on Monday, 16 October, 2023 on the A9 between Mybster, B870, and Latheron, A99.

“Officers are in attendance and the road remains closed.”

Traffic Scotland reported the road closure at around 3.30pm today and its spokesperson said: "Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use an alternative route."

Diversion details:

Northbound - Turn right onto A99 – Follow road until Wick – Turn left onto A882 and follow road until A9/A882 Junction – Thereafter follow permanent signing. Distance: 37.3 miles. Southbound - Turn left onto the A882 and follow road until Wick – Turn right onto A99 and follow road until Latheron – Thereafter follow permanent signing. Distance: 37.3 miles.
