Ullapool woman was sent threatening text
WHEN an Ullapool woman got a man blocked from an on-line dating agency, she received a threatening text message from him, Dingwall Sheriff Court heard today.
Sheriff Andrew Miller heard the woman had gone to visit Kevin Shelton at his home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, after they met through an on-line dating agency and after several conversations on Skype.
But depute fiscal Laura Ryan said that when the woman met him in his home town, she was disturbed by his drinking habits.
“She loaned him money to decorate his house and there was a fall-out,” said the fiscal.
“She reported him to the on-line dating agency and he was blocked. He then sent her a text saying he could be in her home town in six hours and ‘it hadn’t even started yet’.”
The fiscal said Shelton initially denied sending a threatening text and said he would come and speak to her.
The fiscal added: “He told police ‘I think she’s being bitter and twisted and she has issues’.”
But Shelton (41) of Brooklands Crescent, Havercroft, Wakefield, later admitted between June 26 and 30 last year behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by sending a threatening text message to the woman.
A first offender, he pleaded guilty by letter.
The Sheriff, who imposed a fine of £180 said a letter was also submitted from Shelton’s GP.
