Ullapool’s former tourist information centre to become new shop
A zero-waste food shop in Ullapool has secured new premises in the heart of the village.
Ullapool Unpacked, established by Evie Strange in 2019, has been operating as a community refill shop from a mobile trailer and as a pop-up shop in the Ullapool Village Hall.
In what Evie says she hopes will be the final move for the shop, Ullapool Unpacked has now secured the keys to the former VisitScotland tourist information centre at 6 Argyle Street.
Evie said: “This is a huge milestone for Ullapool Unpacked, and having our own space has been the dream for many, many years.
“We will be getting straight to work on fitting it out and can't wait to welcome everyone to our community refill shop when it opens.”
Evie started Ullapool Unpacked C.I.C. after the birth of her daughter, when she was taken aback by "how much waste a child can produce". She decided to do something about it.
The shop sells everything loose without packaging, so customers can bring a reusable container and fill it with the product and quantity they want.
