Trains cancelled between Inverness and Elgin and on the Far North line

Passengers travelling between Inverness and Wick and between the Highland capital and Elgin will face major disruption today due to a series of train cancellations.

The services on the Inverness-Aberdeen line have been cancelled because of a broken down train, whereas two services between Inverness and Wick will be cancelled due staff shortages this afternoon.

The 1.30pm and 4.22pm trains from Inverness and the 2.25pm and 6.02pm trains from Elgin will not be running this afternoon

The 12.34pm train from Wick to Inverness and the 6.31pm Inverness to Wick will be cancelled.

Alternative road transport has been arranged from Wick to Inverness for customers travelling on the line.

A ScotRail spokesperson added: “We have organized replacement road transport supplied by Blargoans minibus and taxi 24/7 mini bus to operate between Inverness and Wick to supplement cancellation to train service.

“Please speak to station staff or use the help points on the platform for further information.”

Crew shortages impacted train commuters on the Far North Line in April.

This comes after train disruption on the line from Inverness to Edinburgh caused by a fault this morning.
