The Mad Ferret Band's Whirl Tour of Scotland to land at Lairg for penultimate gig
DYNAMIC, Perth-based folk duo, the Mad Ferret Band, are set to perform in Sutherland for the first time as part of their Whirl Tour of Scotland.
The band will take to the stage at Lairg Community Hall next Saturday, November 25.
The duo features Chris Woods on mandolin, guitar and vocals and Sandy Stirton on guitar, cajon and vocals.
They have been electrifying audiences for more than a decade and are known for their “earth-shaking” mandolin solos, tight vocal harmonies, driving Cajon beats and immersive guitar sounds.
Their music has been described by Nevis Radio as “uplifting and great fun to listen to” while Dalgety Bay Folk Club described them as “playing at supersonic speed".
Another reviewer said: "Their irresistible rhythms will have you up on the dance floor in no time! Fun for all the family!"
The band have shared stages with acts such as Dougie Maclean, Manran, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Capercaillie and many of the biggest names on the music scene.
The Whirl Tour of Scotland started at Drumnadrochit on Saturday, October 7, and the duo have since played at Pittenweem, Abernethy, Portree, Guildtown, Barr, Gigha, Ardfern and Dalmally.
The Lairg event is the penultimate gig with the tour concluding at Blairgowrie on Friday, December 22.
Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite or at the door. Adults £12; concessions £10; Adults plus one child £15. It is a BYOB event.
