The man who died in a road accident in Caithness yesterday has been named.

Police confirm he is Edward Robert Laing, aged 19, from Thurso.

Emergency services were alerted to the one car accident at just after 3.15am yesterday on the A99 south of Keiss, Caithness.

The 19-year-old solo male occupant of the vehicle, a Peugeot 306, sadly died at the scene. As with all sudden deaths a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The road was closed for approximately eleven hours to allow a full investigation to take place.
