An Inverness takeaway could have its late-night licence suspended over serious food hygiene concerns.
According to a report which will be presented to Highland Council’s licensing committee it has been recommended that the late-night catering licence of Zoom Takeaway in Baron Taylor Street be suspended immediately.
The committee was due to meet today from 10am to discuss the report.
A complaint was made last year and environmental health officers found there was a poor standard of food hygiene and safety at the business in September.
A follow up visit the following month found there was a small improvement in hygiene but two of the three complaints remained in place.
Subsequent visits at the beginning of the year found that food hygiene and safety was still unsatisfactory.
As a result the owner, Mohamed Afif, was served with a remedial action notice – which meant that the business could not operate after 11pm until it complied with food safety requirements.
Previously concerns have been raised about the business by environmental health in 2019.
