A Tain swimmer (16) has been selected to compete in a prestigious overseas competition in Portugal next month.

Tain Amateur Swimming Club’s Alison Wood was chosen to join a squad of 16 swimmers who will be flying out to Portugal on June 6 for five days, to compete in the esteemed Porto International Open Meet.

The offer to compete overseas came after a recent success at the Inter-Counties Team Championships 2023 in Sheffield.

Tain Amateur Swimming Club said: “A great achievement and opportunity for Alison to be selected to compete in such an event.

”Selection to this overseas event was carried out by the North District Swimming Committee based on a number of factors including World Aquatic points in any event from January 2023 up and till March 2024.”
