Symposium will focus on Scac Fada meteorite impact at Stoer
A SYMPOSIUM is being held in Ullapool later this month on the topic of meteorite impacts in general and specifically the meteorite impact that formed the Stac Fada formation at Stoer, north of Lochinver.
The North West Highlands Geopark has linked with the Highland Geological Society to hold 'Celebrating an Impact' at the Macphail Centre on Saturday, September 30, from 9.45am to 5.30pm.
Talks will be given by geologists from Glasgow University, Oxford University, University College, London, and the National Museum of Northern Ireland.
A field excursion will take place the following day, Sunday, October 1, to Stac Fada. The day will be spent studying the formation first-hand, accompanied by experts.
Live streams for the indoor sessions will be available for those who cannot attend in person.
