Sutherland museum’s tapestry ‘taster session’

Anyone interested is invited to take part in a community project to create a tapestry for a Sutherland museum.

Dornoch Historylinks Museum said a group of stitchers had already started working on embroidering three panels.

A spokesperson for the museum said the stitchers had been inspired by working on the “Spirit of the Highlands and Islands” tapestries.

A free ‘taster workshop’ is being held so that people can see the work done so far and have a go themselves.

The workshop will take place in the museum’s new heritage hub on Wednesday, February 19, from 2pm-4pm.

The spokesperson continued: “Beginners are welcome and there will be advice and support for everyone.

“The workshop is free and includes needles and thread. There is no need to book - please just use the side entrance as the main museum is currently closed for the season.”
