Searchers focus on steep rocky area on Ben Loyal in today's hunt for missing Dornoch man
The leader of Assynt Mountain Rescue Team has said members will today concentrate their search for missing Dornoch man Stuart Campbell on a rocky area on the north side of Ben Loyal, Tongue.
Sue Agnew and her team colleagues have joined family members, friends and volunteers in the hunt for 33-year-old Mr Campbell, who was reported missing 11 days ago. Extensive searches have since been ongoing.
His car - a red Suzuki Swift, reg SY08 OFA - was found at a car park most regularly used by walkers accessing Ben Loyal to the south of Tongue.
He is believed to have travelled to the area on Saturday, July 25, and it is thought he intended to go hill walking, although it is not known what route he intended to take.
It is understood that aircraft operated by aviation charity UK Civil Air Patrol Scotland will also be sweeping the area today and tomorrow.
The Northern Times spoke to Ms Agnew as she was driving to the search site earlier this morning.
She said: "We are going to concentrate today on crags to the north side of Ben Loyal. There are sections there that are difficult to access and are very steep. It is an area with a large number of boulders."
