Scottish Water issue apology to residents after Scourie is left without water supply
Scottish Water have issued an apology to residents in Scourie who in some cases were left without water for almost two days.
People in the north-west Sutherland village woke this morning to find their water supply had been cut off, resulting in the closure of Scourie Primary and Scourie Primary Nursery and children being sent home.
The service provider has stated that a fault at Scourie water treatment works caused the loss of supply.
While repairs were carried out, Scottish Water provided tankers overnight and sent bottled water to village residents.
The 'normal water supply' was restored at around 8am this morning.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We would like to apologise to customers in Scourie for the disruption to their water supply over the course of yesterday and this morning (Thursday and Friday). We appreciate the significant impact this has on residents and businesses.
“A fault occurred at Scourie water treatment works in the early hours of Thursday morning. Our team attended quickly and began efforts to restore the production of drinking water, but this was not initially successful. We therefore brought water into the area by road tanker in an effort to restore supply to as many customers as possible while work continued.
“While most customers should have seen water return on Thursday, tankers were unfortunately not able to sustain supply to the network overnight, causing further loss of supply on Friday morning. Normal supply of the local water network from the Water Treatment Works was restored at around 8am this morning and customers should have seen supply return by mid-morning.
“If any customers remain without water, we would encourage them to contact us on 0800 077 8778 so that our team can investigate and provide assistance.”
