GOLSPIE Seaforth House care home has received some state of the art new equipment, courtesy of funding from the Kilbraur Wind Farm Community Benefit Trust.

Residents will now be able to get out and about in an attendant controlled electric powered wheelchair. The £8,000 donation from the Trust also provided two new RemPods, pop up reminiscence rooms which provide a calm and therapeutic environment for residents living with dementia.

Tracey Campbell, activity coordinator at Seaforth House, said: "We are delighted with the donation for the new equipment and would like to thank the Trust for their support. The new RemPods are a brilliant way of opening up conversations and really help staff get to know more about our residents’ lives before they came to live here.

"Recognising scenes from the past has a very calming effect on residents living with dementia and we are very keen to gather more memorabilia to make them even more realistic. If anyone has anything they’d like to donate that would fit in with our scenes from a railway station or a 1960s living room we’d be delighted to give it a new home."

Erin Hunter, community relations manager at Falck Renewables whose Kilbraur wind farm generates funds for the Trust, said: "We are really pleased to see the funds from the wind farm being used for such worthwhile projects and we hope the residents of Seaforth House find the new equipment beneficial."

Applications to the Kilbraur Windfarm Community Benefit Trust are considered every three months and anyone who would like to find out more or apply for funding should visit www.kilbraurwindfarmcbt.co.uk.

Anyone with any memorabilia they would like to donate should contact Tracey Campbell at Seaforth House on 01408 633730.
