Highland Stone today welcomed HRH The Princess Royal to its Lochinver workshop to mark the company’s 40 anniversary.

Princess Anne met with staff and was given a tour of all processes used in the production of Highland Stoneware’s distinctive quality pottery, all of which is made and hand-painted on site.

Local children were also in attendance showing off their artistic talents and painting plates in the workshop.

David Grant, Managing director at Highland Stoneware said:

“It has been a fantastic day with so many of our stockists, neighbours and visitors joining us to welcome HRH The Princess Royal.

“Forty years in business is a great achievement. We are very pleased to have operated in the Highlands for 40 years and in that time have brought economic benefit to the area as well as contributing to the development of ceramics.

“Highland Stoneware has created an opportunity for hugely talented artists to stay within their locality without compromising on their work or art. With 22 employees we are a thriving micro economy in the north-west and we continue to seek ways in which we can push the boundaries of the ceramics and pottery industry and innovate with our approach and techniques.

“To have The Princess Royal at our workshop today, to see in detail the care, attention and quality we put into every stage of the production process has given our entire staff and supporters a great boost, and we look forward with vigour to what the next 40 years brings for the company.”
