Plans lodged for new holiday let developments at Balnakeil and Cambusavie
The drive to provide accommodation for the increasing number of visitors attracted to the north Highlands by tourism route NC500, is continuing.
Durness businessman Philipp Tanzer is seeking planning consent to build a house along with three small holiday units at Balnakeil craft village.
And Cambusavie Farm, near Dornoch, has lodged a planning application to demolish farm buildings and erect four holiday lets.
Mr Tanzer, who runs a hair salon and massage therapy centre at Balnakeil and who stood as a Scottish Family Party candidate in the recent local authority election, hopes to build on “garden ground” at 10 Balnakeil.
His plans are under consideration by Highland Council.
Cambusavie Farm is seeking permission to take down a steading and a shed next to Cambusavie Farm Cottage to make way for four holiday lets.
Scottish Water, a statutory consultee, has said there is sufficient capacity in the Londornoch water treatment works for the Cambusavie development. However, it advised there is no waste water infrastructure within the vicinity and Cambusavie Farm would need to investigate private treatment options.
