PICTURES: Tain 'feastivals' are just the tonic to cheer up town

Three food and drink 'feastivals', organised by Tain and District Development Trust, attracted a total of 14 food and drink business.

The events also drew in more than 1,500 hungry customers who were treated to everything from Italian pizzas, Indian curries and Mexican wraps to award-winning burgers, speciality cakes and artisan coffee.

The feastivals were held in the grounds of the Duthac Centre with the third and final event taking place last Wednesday.

The Trust, which also organises the town's popular community markets decided to put on the events to lift the spirit of local residents following Covid.

Community liaison officer Dave Macrae said: “Isolation has been a serious, negative factor during the pandemic and being able to organise an event which can alleviate this and bring back a community spirit seemed fitting.

"At the same time it gave an opportunity to showcase the wide range of food producers that are available locally. The feastival has been so successful that we are being encouraged to do it again next year.”
