PICTURES: Strathy festive fair boosts hall funds
Strathy got into the festive spirit last Saturday with the north coast community's annual Christmas fair taking place in the village hall.
Some 23 craftspeople took stalls, selling a wide range of gifts.
Santa's appearance was heralded by a skirl of the pipes and he spent most of his time in his grotto handing out gifts to children.
The event was organised by Strathy Hall Committee in association with Strathy/Armadale Christmas Committee.
The hall committee raised £1000 from raffle sales, donations for teas and stall fee while the Christmas committee made more than £340 from the grotto and lucky squares.
Profits will go towards a hall refurbishment project – it is hoped to repair or replace the hall roof, install a new kitchen, improve the heating system and undertake other internal improvements.
Hall committee member Carol-Anne Farquhar said: "It was a great community effort and wouldn’t happen without the volunteers who bring it all together. A great team helped tidy and clean up."
