The whole Assynt community pulled together to make the 2023 Lochinver RNLI Fundraising Gala Day a huge success, say organisers.

More than £6200 was raised through the gala day which took place at Lochinver Pier on Sunday, July 23.

The popular event featured a range of activities including tours of Rita, the beautifully restored tug boat from Tanera Mòr. There were stalls, cupcake decorating and much more, including a grand raffle with over 40 prizes donated by local businesses. Lochinver RNLI also received a generous donation of £300 from a "lovely Aberdeenshire lady".

RNLI mascot Stormy Stan, aka Struan MacDonald, also made an appearance.

Karen Stewart, Lochinver Lifeboat Management Group chairperson said: “I am delighted that the Lochinver RNLI Guild and Fundraising Group raised the fantastic total £6,225.89 at Lochinver Lifeboat Gala Day.

“The RNLI relies heavily upon on the hard work of its volunteers and the incredible generosity of all its supporters in order to continue their life saving work. The whole Assynt community pulled together to achieve this amazing result. The money raised will go towards funding the running costs of Lochinver Lifeboat plus crew kit and training for crew members.”
