PICTURES: Piece of history for purchase as old House in Royal Burgh of Tain goes up for sale through Georgesons Solicitors
As far as properties go it is a clear “fixer upper”.
But this is a piece of history for the Royal Burgh of Tain – what is believed to be the town's oldest surviving dwelling house.
It has just come on the market on sale for offers over £38,000.
According to the listing from Georgesons Solicitors it was also the place to go for the market goers to get their cart wheels repaired or their horses re-shoed.
The stone built property has traditional dormer windows and is situated just off the town's High Street in a conservation area.
Entrance is made via the main doors and a full renovation is needed inside.
Over the years the building has seen use as a dwelling house, a garage and latterly a store.
The Burgh Survey identified it as being from the 16th or 17th century originally.
