PICTURES: Fabulous start to Lairg Gala Week with crowning of Queen and decorated float competition
It was a fabulous start to Lairg Gala Week last Saturday, July 8, with sunshine all day.
An opening ceremony took place with this year's Gala Queen Emma Macrae crowned by local resident Eilidh Matheson.
Sutherland Schools Pipe Band and the Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band played for the opening.
A decorated float competition was held with "Little Rock Shin" judged to be the winner. The title of funniest float went to "Shrek Goes on Holiday".
Steven MacLean, who helps organise festivities said: "The week started well. The children enjoyed the day with lots going on. In the evening we had our family dance to the Ann Dickson Band. Everyone had a great time."
