Photographs of Highland landscapes feature in new exhibition at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness
Images of Highland scenes captured by a landscape fine art photographer feature in a new exhibition in Inverness.
The exhibition, comprising 20 images by John Frid, will run at the community gallery at the Eastgate Shopping Centre throughout November.
Mr Frid made Inverness his home after moving to the area 10 years ago.
He said as a photographer who had developed his skills mainly in London and the south of England, he has found the Highlands a revelation.
The area had rejuvenated his love of photography and encouraged him to explore the region.
“The natural beauty and variety of locations within just a few hours of Inverness combined with constantly changing weather make it the perfect base for my landscape photography,” he said.
“While I am drawn to the iconic locations that feature in all the magazines, I also seek out the less publicised beauty that surrounds me.
“I am particularly drawn to our stunning woodlands, forests, and waterfalls which are becoming an increasing focus for my work.
“There can be few if any, locations in the United Kingdom that can boast the diversity of scenery that we enjoy in the Scottish Highlands.
“My photography takes me from the vibrant city of Inverness to the towering mountains of Torridon.
“It finds me gazing in awe across the iconic Loch Ness and the lesser-known Loch Tulla.
“It draws me out when the sun shines, or the rain falls, and even when the snow lays thick on the ground.”
Mr Frid also provides commercial photography services to local businesses and organisations.
The shopping centre’s community gallery, in the mall near Next, provides locals with an opportunity to display their visual art at a prime city centre location for free.
A new photographic exhibition will run throughout December.
