New Ullapool High School headteacher ‘thrilled’ with role beginning next month

THE new headteacher of Ullapool High School says he is “thrilled” with landing the post, and plans to “empower pupils to succeed”.

Dr Lee Coutts, originally from Angus, says he is “delighted” with his new post at the Wester Ross school, which will officially begin on March 10.

Most recently Dr Coutts, who is a business education teacher, worked as the assistant principal at West College Scotland.

With a Masters and Doctorate in education, Dr Coutts is also the author of ten textbooks for the likes of Higher and National 5 Business Management.

He said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new head teacher of Ullapool High School and look forward to working closely with pupils, staff, parents, and the wider school community. During my recent visits to the school, I’ve been inspired by the strong sense of community and the enthusiasm of the young people.

“I am passionate about pupil voice and ensuring every learner feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed — we want them to aspire to be the very best. I am especially looking forward to developing our links with the local community and outdoor experiences for our young people.

“I am thrilled to join Ullapool High School and I am committed to building on the school’s strengths while working collaboratively with the entire school community to drive forward further improvement for our young people.”
