New Ullapool community banker after Bank of Scotland branch closure
Ullapool has received a new Bank of Scotland community banker service after the Wester Ross village's branch closed in October.
Bank of Scotland announced the impending closure in June of this year, citing that branch transactions in Ullapool fell by more than 64 per cent between 2017 and 2022, with many customers already using other ways of banking, such as over the phone or internet banking, as well as visiting other branches. Many locals responded with shock and concern to the announcement, with issues regarding travel and the inaccessibility of digital banking for some.
The bank have now circulated leaflets announcing that a community banker will now visit the village from the beginning of November. The banker will be at the MacPhail Centre on Mill Street, every Wednesday from 9:45am–1:45pm until mid-March next year, excluding December 27, and January 3.
As described in the leaflet, the community banker will provide guidance for ways to bank with Bank of Scotland, provide support for account inquiries - for both personal and business.
