Man arrested after two-vehicle crash

A man has been arrested after a two-vehicle crash in Glasgow city centre that left two people needing medical attention.

Police said the collision happened after a Peugeot 3008 car did not stop for officers on Kyle Street, Glasgow at around 11.55am on Friday.

The Peugeot then travelled along Dobbies Loan towards Milton Street, where it was involved in a collision with a Mercedes A180 car.

Emergency services attended and the 27-year-old man police said was driving the Peugeot was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

He was later released from hospital and was subsequently arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences, police said.

A 25-year-old man who was a passenger in the Peugeot was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

Police are appealing for information about the crash, which happened in the Cowcaddens area of the city.

Sergeant Nick Twigg of Glasgow Road Policing said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to contact us.”

Milton Street was closed for around 10 hours for investigations following the crash.
