A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a derelict building fire in Glasgow.

Four fire engines and two aerial appliances went to the scene in Wardie Road, Easterhouse, when the alarm was raised at around 3.15pm on Sunday.

Local residents were advised to keep their doors and windows shut as firefighters tackled the blaze at Eskdale House, a former homeless shelter which had become derelict.

One appliance remained at the scene overnight to dampen down hotspots.

There were no reported injuries.

Police Scotland said on Monday afternoon a 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fire.

The force said in a statement: “The boy will be reported to the relevant authorities.”
