'Mixed' show of lambs at Dingwall and Highland Mart as ewe trade remains 'firm'
DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd yesterday sold 8 prime cattle and 921 sheep.
Prime heifers (8) averaged 251.4p per kg (+3.3p) and sold to 258.0p per kg for a 575kg Limousin cross and £1,531.35 gross for a 615kg Limousin cross both from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall and both selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall.

New season lambs (541) averaged 211.4p (-5.8p) and sold to 243.0p per kg for a pair of 46.5kg Texel Crosses from Inveruglas Farm, Kingussie selling to Messrs Fraser Brothers, Butchers, Dingwall and £121 gross for a Lleyn Cross from Craigard Cottage, Langal.
SQQ 25.5kg to 45.5kg (199) averaged 211.9p (-6.2p) per kg.
Feeding Sheep (380) sold to £172 gross for a Suffolk Cross Ram from 4 Morefield Brae, Ullapool.
The verdict: “Another mixed show of lambs forward for quality cashed in at decreased values on the week. Ewe trade remains firm and in fact would be a fraction sharper.”
