Man to appear in court today after death of man in Wick at weekend

A 60-year-old man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today in connection with the death of a man following an incident in Wick at the weekend.

Police Scotland confirmed that the 60-year-old had been arrested and charged after the incident at a property in Barrogill Street around 9.30pm on Saturday.

A 50-year-old man was taken to the town's Caithness General Hospital.

He was later transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he died on Tuesday night.

Police will continue to have a presence in the area and are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Craig Still of Police Scotland said: "A police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue and I would like to thank residents for their patience during this time.

"Anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 3874 of June 16 or alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
