Local curlers on marathon 24-hour bus run
Next Monday, Scott Lyon, Littleferry, Golspie, and Richard Mackenzie, Tain will embark on a mammoth bus journey around Scotland.
They hope to cover over 800 miles within a 24 hour period.
The date was chosen to be as close as possible to the longest day in the year and so the trip will begin just before sunrise at 3.40am in Glasgow.
After studying the bus timetables, Scott devised a route that will see them visit most of Scotland’s cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and Inverness.
The furthest north stop will be in Dornoch, which will give them one minute turnaround to head back down the A9 again. They will complete their challenge in Inverness around midnight.
The trip is to raise funds for the Highland Hospice Project Build Appeal and the Sutherland Curling Province, of which Scott is the president and Richard is vice president and match secretary.
The money raised for the Province will go towards training coaches within the club who can then go on to introduce new players. At the moment they have around £3000 sponsor money.
