Liverpool man caught with heroin in Inverness
A Liverpool man was caught with £900 of heroin concealed within his rectum during a drug running operation in Inverness.
James McGrail (59) was stopped by police on mobile patrol on May 8, 2021, on Kessock Road.
When he was searched they found black plastic wrapping on him which aroused suspicions.
He was taken to Raigmore Hospital where 14 wraps of a brown substance was found in his rectum, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.
McGrail, of Upper Frederick Street, Liverpool, was described as a long term drug user.
Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald sentenced him to a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and a drugs testing and treatment order.
She added: “You’re lucky you’re not going to jail.”
The sentence imposed was as a direct alternative to custody.
