The youngsters’ mothers are both former Gala Queens - Ally’s mother, Catriona Corbett, in 2003, and Ellie’s mother, Louise Young, in 2001.

Lairg Primary School pupil Faye Innes won the annual competition to design the cover of the Lairg Gala Week programme.

Steven Maclean of Lairg Gala Week said the 2025 Gala Week would be officially opened by Rhona Morrison from Shinness.

He added that the Gala Queen had yet to be chosen.

“Our queen will be chosen this year at our combined Queen Dance with Golspie Gala and Lairg Crofters Show, which will take place in Lairg Community Centre on May 17 when In Cahoots are playing,” he said.

Lairg Gala Week runs from Saturday to Saturday, July 5-12, and begins with the official crowning of the Gala Queen and a performance by Sutherland Schools Pipe Band and Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band.
