Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries hold first volunteer drop-in session at tree nursery





Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries has held its first volunteer drop-in session at its tree nursery.

Participants were given the opportunity to learn about how the Kyle of Sutherland Rivers Trust is growing trees from local seeds to be planted along river banks to shade and cool the water in a bid to combat climate change.

A spokesperson for Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries said: “Volunteers have already made a big impact by potting birch, alder and wych elm seedlings.”

The tree nursery is located opposite the entrance to Gearchoille Community Woodland in Ardgay. Volunteer sessions are being held on the third Thursday of every month from 1pm-3pm and anyone interested is welcome to take part or just drop in to see what is going on and chat about volunteering.
